Wow...we have spent hours re-organizing the physical area of The Yarn Studio!! Shortly after the new year, we separated out the existing shop into 2 distinct spaces. The back half "houses" the inventory specifically targeted for the online market. The front half holds the remaining "in-store" inventory. A grand re-opening for the online shop is set for January 18th. Be sure to stop by the site at that point, look around from the comfort of your living room, and be inspired. www.theyarnstudiostore.com
And that is 115 boxes full of dreamy yarn...organized...inventoried... and soon to available at the click of a mouse!!
I have been asked many times over...what prompted the change?? Truth is I can no longer adequately manage 2 fairly large and very different inventories. Our gift shop has proved to be a successful venture and it needs more of my time and energy. I dearly love the world of knitting and still want to keep my presence in the fiber world. Since we already have and maintain an online presence, it seems logical to move in that direction. This allows me to narrow down my focus. The online store will focus on providing materials that create beautiful accessories and classic wearable knits.
What does this move mean to the "walk in" customer? Right now we are planning to continue stocking Quince and Co. yarns as we are an approved partner. Quince products will be on display and available for in-store purchases only as this company restricts online sales within the United States. Quince and Co. has a wonderful selection of natural and wearable fibers (no polyester or acrylics added). Their color selections are exquisite and will enhance the atmosphere of the new space.
Will customers be able to shop from the warehouse? The particulars on this question have not been worked out at this time. My hope is to open the warehouse up to the public one weekend each month. But...do remember that you can shop all of the products from the comfort of your home by visiting the website. You may also bring an order into the shop and time permitting we will pull it for you.
Will you still hold classes? I plan to hold workshops on color work, sweater construction, and sock knitting. We just wrapped up a Coco Knits Sweater Workshop and it was thoroughly enjoyable!! The next sweater workshop will be offered in April.
Can I drop in the shop for help on my project? Not without an appointment. With the new changes, most of my time will now be dedicated to making The Farmer's Wife run smoothly. The best times for appointments will still be on Thursday afternoons starting in March.
Can I still get needles in the shop? We will continue to carry Addi Turbos, Knitter's Pride Zings, and Knitter's Pride Dreamz. These brands will be offered in-store and online. We will stock fixed circulars, DPNs, and straight needles.
Meanwhile...the sale we started on the remaining
in-stock inventory continues.
All yarn is 30% off of retail, while some have been packaged in bulk and bulk prices are set at 50% off of retail.
The shop will remain OPEN on Friday 11 to 4 and Saturdays 10 to 4 throughout January and February.
Remember...to watch for the re-opening of the online store on January 18th!!
